Judy Linn Membership Award

The AMWA New England Chapter awards a one-
year free membership in AMWA (which includes chapter membership) to qualified newcomers to the field. The chapter may give as many as three membership awards annually.​
Created in 2001, the award honors Judy Linn for her
long-term service to the chapter, especially as membership director and chapter mentor.
​
Apply by April 30, 2026 to be considered for an award for the current program year. There is no application fee.

Candidate Criteria:
To be eligible for the award, candidates must

Live and work in New England
-
Have no more than three years of full-time experience as a medical writer
-
Not be an existing AMWA member for more than 12 months or a previous AMWA member

Candidates may be nominated by a chapter member or they may apply on their own.

There is no application fee. Submit an application by April 30, 2026 to be considered for an award for the current program year.
Recipients have the opportunity to:

Attend regular chapter meetings featuring informative presentations at no charge

Network with professional medical and health communicators

Receive guidance from designated chapter members throughout the year

Qualify for a reduced member rate at the AMWA national conference

Receive the AMWA Journal and other AMWA communications
Membership Award Recipients
Congratulations to past membership award recipients for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the organization.

Deanna Montgomery holds a BS in chemistry from Houghton College and a PhD in medicinal chemistry from the University of Michigan. After spending five years as a program manager with the MIT Communication Lab, she is transitioning into medical writing. Outside of work, Deanna enjoys playing the piano and alto saxophone and performing improv and murder mystery dinner theater.

Julia Ryan graduated with a PhD in Biology and Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in May 2025. She is passionate about the clear communication of important scientific information and is looking forward to learning from the AMWA community.

Sara Eglitis is a passionate life sciences professional dedicated to improving quality of life for people. With a background in R&D specializing in immunohistochemistry for industry drug and medical device companies performing roles such as research associate, laboratory director, and regulatory affairs, Sara is excited about recently adding medical writer to the list.
